Golden House Appoints Meika Burnikel as New Executive Director

Green Bay, Wis., October 17, 2024 – Golden House, Brown County’s only comprehensive domestic abuse agency, is proud to announce the appointment of Meika Burnikel as the new Executive Director. With a strong history of successful nonprofit leadership, Meika is recognized for her exceptional ability to cultivate an environment marked by collaboration, and innovation.

Meika is an experienced and dynamic leader, deeply committed to enhancing community well-being and providing support for survivors of domestic violence. Her strategic approach will guide Golden House as it advances its mission to provide safety and support to all victims of domestic abuse while leading efforts to end domestic violence in our community.

“We are thrilled to have Meika join Golden House,” expressed John Kirsch, President of the Board. “Her deep connections within the community, expertise in nonprofit leadership, and passion for service will significantly enhance our impact. Meika’s leadership will be pivotal as we continue to support victims and survivors, and educate our community on the prevalence, effects, and prevention of domestic abuse."

Under Meika’s leadership, Golden House aims to enhance its services and community outreach programs into its next phase of service, growth, and transformation. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with staff, partners, and the broader community to establish a framework of open communication that builds trust and transparency.

Upon her appointment, Meika expressed, “I am truly honored to lead Golden House and be part of such critical domestic violence services. I look forward to building upon the organization's strong foundation and leading and working beside so many dynamic and dedicated individuals to end domestic violence in our community.
