Golden House’s On the Rise Campaign Gets Boost with $200,000 Matching Grant from Otto Bremer

Green Bay, WI, March 21, 2024 — Golden House is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its fundraising efforts with a recent $200,000 matching grant from Otto Bremer. This generous contribution propels the On the Rise Campaign closer to its $10.1 million goal, with $8.5 million already secured thanks to our compassionate supporters.

Development Director Dina Borremans expressed her gratitude, stating, “We believe this matching gift will bring momentum to the campaign and help us achieve our fundraising goal. The newly designed facility will allow us to serve more victims and survivors impacted by domestic violence, providing a safe home and essential counseling.”

The On the Rise Campaign was launched to build an expanded Golden House in response to the growing need for domestic violence services in Brown County. The new 34,000-square-foot Golden House, features nine additional bedrooms, providing shelter for over 6,000 additional nights of shelter for more than 150 victims annually. Moreover, the facility offers increased office space for outreach, enabling the organization to enhance advocacy, mental health services, collaborative wellness programs, and educational opportunities. It also provides the space to focus on prevention activities for children impacted by domestic violence and offer survivor-centered support services.

“Over the past several years, there unfortunately has been an increase in the number of victims of domestic abuse who rely on resources such as Golden House for shelter, safety, and support,” says Daniel Reardon, co-CEO and trustee of the Otto Bremer Trust. “As Brown County’s only shelter for domestic abuse services, we are honored to support them in their efforts to expand their facilities so that they can serve even more families in need while continuing to lead efforts to put an end to domestic violence in their communities.”

We're seeking the remaining support from community donors to bring us closer to providing a safe environment for victims.
